The Sick Bay has now been renamed “Health Centre” to reflect its promotion of wellbeing and good health. Health Centre Hours are 8.45am - 3.00pm.
Important Points
- We are unable to look after sick students at school
- Please keep students home if unwell
- Parents will be contacted if students are injured or sick
- Contact numbers and addresses to be updated regularly
- Students must report to the office if the Health Centre is unattended
- Parents are to collect students from the Main Office / Health Centre

Signing In and Out
Signing in and out is a safety issue. Where students become ill during the day or have to leave for any reason it is critical that they report to the College Nurse or
Learning Team Leader and sign out at the General Office before leaving the school grounds.

Medication
- NO Medication should be in the student’s possession
- Only Ventolin or similar medication for the relief of Asthma are to be carried by the student
- Pain Relief Permission Form to be completed for the Nurse to administer Paracetamol (form obtainable from the office)
- Regular or alternative medication to paracetamol MUST be stored in the Health Centre
- Covering note & discussion with the Nurse is required

Head Lice
- The nurse will no longer check students for head
lice, however if a student is reported to be
scratching etc. she will ring the parent if she
feels that head lice is the cause.
- Students with head lice will be sent home
- Students must be treated with the correct shampoo treatment

Asthma
- We are an Asthma Friendly school
- If your child is asthmatic, please ensure he/she has a bronchodilator
- Please complete an “Asthma Management Plan”, obtainable from the Nurse

Anaphylaxis
Anaphylaxis is life threatening! An EPIPEN must be provided for anaphylactic students and must be renewed regularly, as it has a short use by date. An Action Plan for Anaphylaxis must be completed. The EPIPEN must be taken on camps and excursions.

School Nurse

Tracey Anastasi is an English trained Division 2
Nurse and has been nursing for 30 years, the last eleven of which have been at Berwick Secondary College. Tracey constantly updates her skills and also belongs to the Victorian School Nurses Group.
She has recently successfully completed studies in Adolescent
Health.
