Overview

The Department of Education and Training through its Southern Metropolitan Office and the school controls admission at the beginning of Year 7. A Neighbourhood Zone has been set up in the Berwick Area please refer to the "Zone Information" on the Administration page for further information or click here Zone Information.

Applications, outlining special curriculum, welfare or family circumstances will be considered from students living outside this zone on a case-by-case basis. Application forms can be obtained from local primary schools. The school runs tours in April and May of each year for prospective parents.

Admission at later levels is dependent on place of residence and availability of places. Enquiries should be directed to the relevant Sub-school Coordinator or the College Principal.

Change of Details

It is important that the school has up to date contact details for students and parents - including emergency contacts. Parents are asked to ensure details are up to date at all times to facilitate communication with parents - particularly in an emergency.

Parents can update their details by downloading the Change of Student Details form and presenting it at the office.

Schedule of Fees

The college council aims to keep the cost of education as low as possible and at the same time provide our students with a curriculum that meets the high standards expected by the community.

The government provides a curriculum allowance for each student. This allowance provides limited funds to provide a basic level of teaching materials, special programs, welfare, furniture, equipment, maintenance, facilities and staff.

The college council is permitted to request that parents pay an additional amount per student to provide a better level of education. Much of what is provided to students would not be possible without these additional funds.

Parents are therefore asked to pay an Essential Service Fee and a Voluntary tax deductible Contribution to the School Building Fund. In addition, parents are also asked to pay for elective unit charges where their child has selected units with additional costs. An explanation of each is given in the table below.

In cases where parents find payment difficult, alternative arrangements may be negotiated with the college. Please contact any of the following staff to confidentially discuss a payment plan.

  • Manfred Horn (Welfare)
  • Kathy Burke (Business Manager)
  • Ross Bevege (Principal)

Elective Subject Charges

These are for specialist programs that incur a high cost due to their very nature. Often students enroll in a VET, Outdoor Ed or FoodTech program, etc. or they are involved with outings or consume or take possession of a final article made.

Essential Service Fee

Year 7    $220.00

Year 8    $250.00

Yr 9-12  $160.00 plus Units Selected

Elective charges for Year 9 to 12 vary from subject to subject. Year 7 & 8 all costs covered under the essential service fee.

Fee for electives are required to be paid at selection time. (November)

Exiting Students

Any student intending to move to another school or leave school altogether, should inform the student coordinator well in advance. The student will be asked to complete an exit form that requires the signature of several staff members as well as the signature of the parent/guardian. Transfer notes will then be sent to the new school.
