Overview
The College Council provides an opportunity for parents and other members of the community to be involved in setting the educational policy of the school. The Berwick Secondary College Council consists of the Principal, seven parent representatives, four teacher representatives, two student representatives and up to three co-opted community members.
It is the College's governing body and it is responsible for developing and maintaining policies that assist and direct the operations of the school. This includes all financial matters and capital works expenditure. The school is looking for enthusiastic parents who want to help improve the learning outcomes of all students in the school community. Parents are invited to contact either their parent representatives or the College Principal about College Council matters.
College Council elections are held annually. The election process can begin anytime in Term 1 and concludes by the end of March each year. Meetings are normally held in the evenings and at the school on the third Tuesday of each month. There are sub-committees that manage Finance, Facilities, Policy and Planning and Human Resource Management. The Council may establish additional working parties as required.
College Council is always happy to have parents involved with sub-committees. This broadens the representation and often brings along additional expertise to the sub-committee.
